Some people call it the terrible "Moby Dick", while others call it the "kraken." 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne (1870) follows Professor Aronnax, his servant Conseil, and harpooner Ned Land, who are captured by the mysterious Captain Nemo after investigating a rumored sea monster. They travel the world in the advanced submarine, the Nautilus, witnessing wonders, fighting monsters, and exploring sunken ruins, before escaping as Nemo’s sanity collapses.
