It follows Shasta, a boy fleeing slavery in Calormen, and Bree, a talking horse, who partner with a girl named Aravis and her horse Hwin to escape to Narnia. The group discovers a plot to invade Archenland and Narnia, forcing them to race north to warn the kingdom.
